It is a great honor to announce that Salutatorian for the Class of 2008 is Tiffani Gaskin.


Reginald McGee and Alexandria Ross, 10th grade students at Crestwood High School, were recently selected by YESCarolina as Young Entrepreneurs of the Year, along with other South Carolina middle and high school entrepreneurship students.  Reggie and Alex, students in Mrs. Linda Avery's Entrepreneurship class, submitted business plans that they completed in Mrs. Avery's class, and were chosen for this honor.  As two of the state's top young entrepreneurs, they are invited to be special guests at the College of Charleston for six nights and to attend the Advanced Biz Camp seminar at the College of Charleston.  They will also be honored guests at the YESCarolina Awards Banquet to be held in Charleston.  Mrs.  Avery was also selected by YESCarolina as one of the Top Ten Entrepreneurship Teachers of the Year for South Carolina.  She will attend an Advanced Entrepreneurship Training Session at the College of Charleston and receive honors at the Awards Banquet.  The mission of YEScarolina is to teach entrepreneurship to young South Carolinians of all socioeconomic backgrounds to enhance their economic productivity by improving their business, academic, and life skills.  YESCarolina is a non-profit organization that recognizes South Carolina's students and teachers for their efforts in studying entrepreneurship.

CHS Faculty and Staff

Cafeteria Staff Receives Awards!
Congratulations go to our outstanding Food Services personnel, led capably and energetically by our cafeteria manager Ms. Brenda McInnis.
The awards are as follows:
1.  First Place in the Middle/High School Lunch Promotion "Vote for School Lunch."
2.  First Place in the Middle/High School Breakfast Promotion "Fuel Your Imagination."
3.  Site Review Gold Award (perfect score).
4.  Golden Spoon award for a 100% rating on the DHEC inspection.
5.  A second Golden Spoon award for a second 100% rating on the next DHEC inspection.

Coach Debbie Smith (Athletic Director for Sumter County School District Two) was honored as the Athletic Director of the Year for the state of South Carolina.  (She was also recognized as Class AAA Region 5 Athletic Director of the Year, which title made her eligible for state Athletic Director of the Year). In addition to the excellent work she provides to the district,  Coach Smith was cited for doing such a good job not just for one high school (as is usual) but for two high schools (as well as our feeder schools).  Congratulations to Coach Smith!

REGIONAL WINNERS
 
The awards for the 2008 Regional Science Fair in Columbia were announced on March 11 at the Koger Center.  These students from Crestwood High School won one or more awards in the Region II Science and Engineering Fair Competition held on March 7th in Columbia, S.C. ( Both of these students are seniors).
 
Joshua Lee  Senior Engineering Awards, Honorable Mention in the International Sustainable World Energy Award (Includes trip to compete in the ISWEEEP competition held May 1 to May 5 in Houston, Texas). Students from many other countries are also participating.
 
Wilveria Sanders    Women in Science Award award plus monetary award.

Free SAT/ACT Prep Materials Available
eKnowledge, NFL players, and the Department of Defense are providing free SAT and ACT prep assistance, valued at $200, for all military impacted students and educators in our area.  Military impacted means anyone who is a dependent of a military person, is in the ROTC, or has siblings, aunts, uncles, or others who are serving or have served. Through this major education initiative, over $16,000,000 of the programs have already been shipped to more than 70,000 students worldwide.  The SAT/ACT PowerPrep includes a high quality DVD or CD ROM set, over 11 hours of video training, over 40 hours of student participation, 120 instructor video lessons, and 122 question and answer movies.  The product enables the students to study at home, at their own pace.  It includes a syllabus, schedule, and tracking ability.The Department of Defense has set up a website that allows any District Two student, no matter their military affiliation, the ability to request the program and have it funded.  The website for each student and their families to use to request the PowerPrep package is http://eknowledge.com/schools.asp?coupon=B2CF24939
 
The NFL players have extended the deadline for the program until July, 2009. 

The Annual Report to the Parents is prepared annually by members of the School Improvement Council and is distributed to all students by the end of April.  Crestwood has chosen to attach this report to our website so that those who do not have students here but who are interested in the school can also have access to it.  Several pictures are included on the brochure.  These are scenes of students at work, our Senior Board members, and our award-winning AF JROTC.   You can find much additional information about programs and achievements at Crestwood by browsing this website.  Thank you for your interest in Crestwood High School.

South Carolina School Report Card ratings were announced November 15.
Ratings for Crestwood:
ABSOLUTE RATING: GOOD
IMPROVEMENT RATING: Below Average
Congratulations to everyone for the GOOD rating. Out of the 29 schools across the state in our category, only one school scored a higher Absolute Rating that Crestwood.

TUTORING SCHEDULE
 Spring 2007
The faculty and staff of Crestwood High School are committed to excellence. To help students achieve their goals, teachers in core area classes and foreign language classes will be available for tutorial assistance as outlined on the attachment. To attend tutoring, you must have an agenda pass from your teacher, all materials for the subject, and specific questions or problems for which you need assistance. This time is meant for special assistance, not for teaching new material. Of course, your classroom teacher may also be available for assistance upon request. More...

Welcome to the Crestwood eChalk Web site.

The Crestwood staff is proud of the accomplishments made by our students and look forward to improving upon those in the coming year. Our SAT scores are rising and our HSAP scores also show significant improvement. Our graduation rate is one of the best in the area.

Crestwood's extracurricular activities continue our tradition of building teamwork and character, winning recognition for our students and the school as a whole. While we certainly face many challenges in bringing our achievement to the levels we desire and which the community deserves, we have developed and continue to develop programs to meet the academic and social needs of our students.   More...
